Brian Charles Balyeat

Brian Charles Balyeat, 68, a resident of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Fort Myers. He was born on December 29, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to Charles Balyeat and Marjorie Klein, who preceded him in death.

Brian dedicated 31 years of his life to General Motors. He began his career at just 18 years old at the Truck & Bus plant in Flint, Michigan, and later transferred to the Pontiac, Michigan plant. Through hard work and dedication, he retired after 31 years of service.

Brian had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and rarely sat still. Whether he was hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, or tending to his plants, he found joy in staying active and being surrounded by nature. He had a special love for animals and always enjoyed spending time outside whenever he could.

Above all else, Brian loved his family. He was known for his goofy personality and his love of having fun, always finding a way to make people laugh. He constantly looked for ways to help others, never hesitating to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

He was also known for his signature farewell, often saying, “See you later, alligator… after while, crocodile,” to his family. To his children and grandchildren, he was lovingly known as “Papa” or “Papa Bear,” names that reflected the warmth and strength he brought into their lives.

Brian is survived by his stepmother, Kaye Balyeat; his daughters, Ashley Vitale and her husband, Cody, and Brianna Wagoner and her husband, Gregory; his son, Matthew Balyeat; his sister, Tamara Balyeat; and his six beloved grandchildren: DJ, Kensi, Kai, Kian, Henrick, and Olivia.

Brian will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his humor, his kindness, his unwavering work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be announced by the family at a later date.
