Carole Montene Queen, 82, formerly of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born November 22, 1943, in Thomaston, Georgia.
Carole retired from JC Penney distribution center in Forest Park, Georgia after 25 years at which time she and her husband, Harrold, moved to Lake Sinclair. They were active in their church, Lake Country Baptist. Carole enjoyed working in her yard, needlepointing/cross stitching, spending time with her granddaughters boating and water skiing, and just sitting on the porch rocking and looking at the lake with her cat.
She is survived by her two children, Deborah Chapman (Tim) of Cape Coral, Fl., and Terry Queen of Jonesboro, GA; one sister Patricia Braid (Ed) of Fort Myers, Fl.; four brothers, Donald Ray Poteat (Cindy) of Thomaston, GA, Reginald Poteat (Patricia) of Laurinburg, NC; Jerry Oglesbee (Sandra) of Roswell, GA, and Sam Oglesbee (Kim) of Proctorville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jessica Austin (Jason), Ashley McCue (Jeremy), Natalie Bryant (Kyle), and Bonnie Queen; five great-grandchildren, Derek, Autumn, Charlotte, Fiona, and George.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Harrold Queen; one daughter, DeAnne Queen; as well as her parents, Houston Downey Poteat & Ruby Macie Poteat Oglesbee Gibby; stepfather, Levert Oglesbee; sister, Lucille Harrell.
