Carrie Ann Smith

Nov 1, 1967 — Oct 13, 2026

Carrie Culligan-Smith (affectionately known by her lively alter ego, Carrie Benatar) passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida, after a brief bout of liver cancer, surrounded by love.

Born on November 1, 1967, Carrie called Cape Coral home in her later years, but a piece of her heart always belonged in Ashland, Wisconsin, where she grew up and made countless treasured memories and friends.

Carrie lived her life with an abundance of love, kindness, and generosity. As an extraordinary Registered Nurse, her caring nature extended far beyond her personal life into her career. She touched the lives of so many patients, families, and colleagues through her compassion, dedication, and gentle touch.

To know Carrie was to know joy, loyalty, and adventure. She loved to travel, explore new places, and was always ready for her next great journey. A passionate and devoted Green Bay Packers fan, she cheered on her team with unmatched enthusiasm. Carrie was also a legendary baker who found immense happiness in sharing her sweet treats with everyone around her.

For those who were honored to call Carrie a friend, she offered her entire heart and soul. She was the proud, fiercely loving protector of her two brothers throughout her life.

Carrie is survived by her loving brothers, Daryl (Lilly) Culligan and Brad (Carrie) Witt, along with a wide circle of cherished friends and devoted former coworkers whose lives were forever enriched by her friendship.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Sharon Bradle ; her father, Daniel Culligan; and her beloved husband, Todd Smith.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Carrie Ann Smith are suggested to your local non profit, no kill humane society.

A celebration of life for Carrie will be held at a later date.

Reflections & Remembrances

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."

Carrie's warmth, sweet baking, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
