Charles Leland Doss Jr., 81, of Avon Park, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in LaBelle, Florida.
Born on August 14, 1944, in Miami, Florida, Charles was the son of Charles Leland Doss Sr. and Eloise Williams Doss, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gisela Patrizia Doss and his brother, Allen "Kyle" Doss.
Charles was a man of Christian faith who enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life. He loved hunting, fishing, walking in the woods, and feeding the animals he cared for. He found peace on the water and had a lifelong appreciation for the beauty and character of Old Florida. He also enjoyed mornings spent having breakfast with friends, watching classic Westerns, and History Channel documentaries.
Charles proudly served in the National Guard, retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major after many years of dedicated service.
He was the longtime owner of Williams Hardware, where he became well known throughout the community for his knowledge, practical advice, and willingness to visit with customers. The store was a gathering place for many, and Charles enjoyed the camaraderie and conversations that came with serving the people of Lee County. Throughout his life, he also served in several community leadership roles, giving his time and experience to organizations he believed in.
Charles was proud of his family and is survived by his four children, Charlene Blum (Steven), Charlie Doss
(Kendall), Jennifer Pfister (Marc), and Amber Ballantine (Brad); his sister, Lynda Doss; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Charles's life on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The family will receive guests beginning at 3:00 p.m., with the memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Mullins & Curtis Affordable Funerals and Cremations, 3654 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33916.
