Connie R. Durrett departed this life on October 19, 2026 in Hospice of Cape Coral. She was born in 1953 in St. Charles, MO. Her parents were, T. L. Summers and Mildred Fitch Summers Ocho. She married R. Stephan Durrett, who was the love of her life. She and Stephan owned a Medical Company in Atlanta, GA. They enjoyed buying and remodeling homes, traveling, and being together until he died after a heart transplant. The other love of her life was her Grandpa Fitch who lived in Metropolis, Illinois. He owned a bakery and Connie told many stories about eating her way through the bakery. He was a gentle man who greatly influenced her life.
Connie moved to Florida after Stephen's death. She was a master Gardner, bird watcher, boarded the boat to Costa Caya for shells and visited every Lighthouse in Florida. Her favorite place to visit was the Keys. Her passion for swimming was satiated in the Gulf waters. Connie had a fierce love for feeding stray animals, including birds, ducks and adopted a dog from the Animal Rescue Center on Bayshore Road. She was a friend of Ding Darling in Sanibel. Captiva was another happy place.
Connie will be missed by many friends, former coworkers at Cape Coral Hospital, plus many neighbors she met living in both Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Connie's final career was as House Mother at the Angel Wings Home in Cape Coral. She was instrumental in helping women learn organizational skills to move forward to an Independent life.
