Donald (Donnie) Edward Ulik, 88, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Cape Coral, Florida. He was born May 20, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was of the Catholic faith.
Donald approached life on his own terms. He was fearless, a natural risk taker, and never one to follow the expected path. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, and that independence was at the core of who he was. Known for his sharp sense of humor and quick sarcasm, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He lived life with a sense of adventure that carried him across the world, traveling extensively and experiencing nearly every corner of it. From South America to Europe, remote regions of Africa, Australia, and Japan, he was always in motion, drawn to places off the beaten path and experiences that few others sought out. Egypt held a special place in his heart, but nothing compared to the American West. No matter how far he went, he returned each summer to the place he loved most and felt deeply connected to.
A skilled machinist by trade, Donald had an exceptional mechanical mind and could fix or build just about anything. From plumbing and electrical work to mechanical repairs and large scale building projects, he taught himself how to do it all, even building his own home from the ground up. He took the time to teach others those same skills, valuing the process and the people he was teaching just as much as the work itself.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eva; her son, Victor Kranz; his four children, Laura Neumeier, Patricia Ulik, Jane Reimer, and Jonathan Ulik; one sister, Cathy Ulik; one brother, Patrick Ulik; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Ulik, Justin Neumeier, and Samantha Reimer.
He is also survived by close friends who became like family to him, the Lindner family, Gregg, Carrie, Ashton, and Cameron, as well as Scott, Michelle, Taylor, and Rebecca, who were a constant and meaningful part of his life.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Ulik.
He did things his way, without apology, and will be remembered for the bold and unforgettable life he lived.
