Doris Jane Wolfe, known to many as Jane, passed away on November 6, 2026, in Bonita Springs, Florida, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia that spanned more than ten years. She was born on September 27, 1945, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and lived her life with a spirit that was unmistakably her own: stubborn, strong-willed, funny, and deeply caring.
Jane was a builder in every sense of the word. She worked as a carpenter and also with Home Depot, bringing skill, practicality, and pride to the work of making and mending. Her hands were rarely still. She loved building things, and that creative energy found one of its most memorable expressions in the intricate dollhouses she made with patience and imagination. Whether through her work or her hobbies, she left behind the mark of someone who took satisfaction in creating something solid, beautiful, and lasting.
She also embraced life with a bold and independent joy. She loved her motorcycle and was part of a motorcycle club, carrying with her the freedom, camaraderie, and confidence that suited her so well. Jane was the kind of person who was always out walking the neighborhood, talking to everybody, making connections wherever she went. Her home and her life were open to others. She had many friends and many visitors through the years, and she was known as the kind of woman who would take people in off the street, literally, because caring for others came naturally to her.
In her final years of her disease, Briska and Kevin cared for her until she inevitably couldn't recognize anyone anymore.
Even through the long years of illness, love remained close to the center of her heart. In her final years, she often spoke of her daddy and how much she loved him. It is a tender comfort to those who loved her to think of them together again.
Jane is survived by her sons, Kevin Wolfe (Briska) and Christopher Wolfe (Robyn). She also leaves a cherished and growing family in the next generations: her grandchildren Evyn Yankovich (Jessica), Kyle Yankovich (Carissa), Brooke Wolfe (Patrick McKenna), Anna Wolfe, Tia Wolfe, Gabriel Wolfe, and Donna Wolfe; and her great-grandchildren Aurora Yankovich, Vaida Yankovich, Cole Yankovich, Grayson McKenna, Ivy McKenna, Graham Wolfe, Xander Wolfe, and Calliope Wolfe. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Duncan. Each of them carries forward memories of her humor, her strength, and the unmistakable force of her personality.
She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Harley Alijda McKenna, and by her parents, Floyd Duncan and Coral Duncan.
Jane will be remembered as a woman of grit and warmth, of laughter and resolve, of open doors and open conversation. Her family and friends will remember her always.
