Eileen Margaret Murphy, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026. She was 86 years old.
Born on June 19, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, Eileen was the daughter of Mary Ellen (Lynch) Murphy and John Joseph Murphy. She was raised in a proud Irish American family and maintained a deep devotion to her faith, family, and Irish heritage throughout her life.
Eileen attended Preston High School in the Bronx, graduating in 1956, and later studied at Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. A dedicated professional and lifelong learner, she built a successful career while continuing her education. While working full-time, she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Fordham University, an accomplishment of which she was especially proud.
As a young woman, Eileen was an award-winning Irish step dancer. Alongside her brother, John Murphy, she competed in dance competitions throughout the Northeast and performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, showcasing her talent and love of Irish culture.
Eileen enjoyed a long career and eventually retired from Equitable Life Insurance. In 2006, she relocated to Florida and made her home in the Sabal Springs community, where she enjoyed many happy years.
A woman of deep faith, Eileen was a longtime parishioner of St. Benedict's Church in the Bronx, and later of Saint Therese Parish in North Fort Meyers.
Eileen was predeceased by her beloved brother, John Murphy, also of the Sabal Springs community. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eileen Ann Murphy; her nieces, Ann Marie Murphy (James McGuire) of Maplewood, New Jersey, and Kathleen Tierney (Mark) of Ridgefield, Connecticut; her nephew, Kevin Murphy (Patricia) of Indianapolis, Indiana; and many grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Therese Church in North Fort Myers on June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
