Elsie Allison Hoyt, 88, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, in Cape Coral. She was born May 2, 1937 to Irven and Leora Seager in Bath, New York.

Elsie was of the Christian faith. Elsie graduated from Haverling High School in June 1956. She married Peter Comstock on April 14, 1957. They moved to El Paso, Texas where Peter was stationed in the United States Air Force. They had four children, Peter was born on February 10, 1958, Debbie was born on February 5, 1959, Randy was born on March 17, 1960, and Cathy was born on April 12. 1961. Peter and Elsie divorced in 1968. Elsie then met Manley Moore and in 1979 they were married in Florida. Manley passed away on January 3, 1992 after suffering a stroke. Elsie met Mike Hoyt and they were married on April 24, 1993. Mike passed away on June 21, 2005.

She received her LPN nursing degree from the University of the State of New York in 1971. She worked in New York state at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, New York, Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath, New York, and Bath Veterans Hospital in Bath, New York. Elsie then relocated to Florida in 1979 where continued her nursing career at Cape Coral Hospital. She worked on the Med-Surgical floor taking care of 4-6 patients per day, in 1983 she moved to the pre-Admission testing department, and in 1993 she was asked to supervise the newly created Central Transport Department. Elsie was extremely valuable in creating policy and procedures for the department. Elsie retired from Cape Coral Hospital in 2002. Her nursing career spanned over 30 years, a career she loved, excelled at and she had earned respect from all those she worked with. After her retirement from the hospital, she worked with Portamedic where she performed insurance exams until she retired in 2009.

Elsie was involved with Veterans of Foreign Wars for close to forty years, where she held many positions and offices. She was most proud of the annual Voice of Democracy Program in which she partnered with local schools. This program was a competition for high school students to write/record a short essay on a patriotic theme in which the winners received a scholarship from $1000.00 up to $35,000.00. This program was Elsie's pride and joy and she thrived on the interaction with the schools.

She is survived by her children, Pete Comstock (Lois) of Cohocton, New York, Debbie Clark (Gary) of North Fort Myers, Florida, Randy Comstock (Deb) of Avoca, New York, and Cathy Comstock of Cape Coral, Florida; as well as 7 wonderful Grandchildren, Michelle, Brian, Philip (P.J.), Brandy, Corrie, Anthony (Tony), and Jessica. She also had 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Elsie was preceded in death by her first husband Peter Comstock, her second husband Manley Moore in 1992, and her third husband Michael Hoyt in 2005; as well as her parents, Irven and Leora Seager.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Veterans of Foreign War, 996 Pondella RD, North Ft. Myers, FL.
