Gerald Joseph Spannan, Jr

Gerald J. Spannan, Jr., "Jerry", age 62, of Cape Coral, Florida and formerly of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 19th, 2026. Beloved husband of Patricia Spannan (nee Murphy) for 35 years. Loving father and stepfather of Donald Spannan (Melissa), Kyle Spannan, David Johnson (Deena), and Daniel Johnson (Elizabeth). Devoted "Papa" to Sarah Jo and Mckensey Spannan, Avery Spannan, Tia, Gabby, Sadie and Tate Johnson, Braedan, Emmett, and Luke Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald J. and Charlene (nee Higgbotham) Spannan of Crown Point, Indiana and was a loving brother to Donna Bergstrom, Laurie (Scott) Kingery, and Mark (Cassie) Spannan. He was a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also adored his loyal fur baby, French bulldog - Bella Rose "Boo-Boo", who brought him endless joy.

Those who knew Jerry will remember him for his generosity, his sense of humor, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome. A contractor by trade, Jerry had the type of personality that turned clients into friends and friends into clients. He enjoyed making peoples' homes functional and beautiful by sharing his knowledge and craft. His happiest times, however, were spent out on the water. His circles of boating friends and neighbors from The Chain of Lakes to Blue Water Marina were as wide and deep as the waters he navigated.

Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the wonderful man he was and the countless ways he touched the lives of others.
