Above all, James cherished his family. He was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he embraced his role as the patriarch of the family with love and strength. A proud patriot, he held a deep respect for his country and the United States Marine Corps.

James dedicated 33 years of his career to Weirton Steel, where he rose to the position of Engineering Manager for Construction Projects. He later spent seven years at Honda in Florence, South Carolina, working in Supplier Quality Development.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane Riggs (Herb); his brothers, Charlie and Raymond (Alberta).

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Melanie; his daughters, Lorilynn Fleetwood (Tom) and Elisha Register (Ken); his sister, Denise Simeraro (Paul); his grandchildren, Mack Munn, James-Thomas Fleetwood, Rebecca Fleetwood, Kenneth Register, and Katlin Driggers (Brandon) and two Great-Grandchildren, Theodore and Annie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life in his honor, which will be held at a later date in South Carolina.
