It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of James Leroy Freeman who left this world peacefully on May 28th 2026 at the age of 71. James was surrounded by the love of his devoted family at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral Florida, where he was cared for with tenderness until his final moments.

James was born on November 28th, 1954, in Elmira, New York to his beloved parents, Jim and Mary Lou Freeman. James attended Oakton High School in Fairfax Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Lourdes Freeman. What would begin in 1974 as high school sweethearts would become a lifelong love.

James began his professional career as a journeyman electrician. James's career saw him rise to master electrician before becoming the facilities manager at Navy Federal Credit Union. His passion for his trade was evident not only in his accomplishments but also in his commitment to mentoring the next generation of electricians at Northern Virginia Community College. His dedication to teaching and sharing his knowledge was a testament to his generous spirit and enduring love for his craft.

On June 17, 1978, James exchanged vows with Lourdes Entenza (nee), embarking on a journey of love and partnership that would span an extraordinary 48 years. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and a loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Lourdes, who was constant companion through many journeys and travels, and his greatest supporter. Their enduring love is reflected in their three children, James, Katie, and Sean, who were a constant source of pride and joy for him. He was also the doting grandfather to three grandchildren: Dylan, Alder, and Betty, who brought light and laughter into his life.

James was a man of many interests with a particular passion for music. He found a joy in playing the guitar, and his weekly sessions with fellow musicians at Jaycee Park became a cherished ritual, fostering camaraderie and creativity. Known for his Relentless dad jokes James had a unique ability to bring laughter to any gathering. His humor was a reflection of his caring nature, as he always thought to brighten the days of those around him.

His siblings, Debbie and Tom, remember him as a steadfast brother whose kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand were unwavering. James' legacy is also marked by the loving memories shared with those who preceded him. Including his parents, Jim and Marylou Freeman, whose spirits he now joins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor his memory. James' family welcomes the prayers and thoughts of all who knew him. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hope Hospice whose kindness and care provided immense Comfort during his final days.

James Leroy Freeman leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. His spirit will continue to inspire all.
