James "Jim" Valentine Schlegel, 66, who grew up within the Catholic church, entered this world on October 3, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio. And left us too soon on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Cape Coral, Florida.
Jim had a lifelong love of the sciences. He loved reading and watching lectures. As someone who was always eager to learn something new, he was also passionate to share that knowledge with his family and friends.
He was an entrepreneur at heart. He attended the ICM School of Business and started his own tile company and became a certified masseuse.
Jim also found tremendous joy being outside and was most at home in nature. He was an avid fisher and was extremely proud of his recent certification in scuba diving.
My dad will be remembered for his curious mind, adventurous spirit, and deep appreciation for the world around him. His enthusiasm for life, exploration and learning inspired all those who knew him.
Above all, he treasured his family. He was a devoted father and adored by his grandchildren who looked up to his guidance, big heart, and child-like humor.
He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and intrepid outlook on life which left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his two children, Katherine Reynolds (Jay) and Rebecca Beacon (Dan); one sister, Susan Schlegel; as well as two grandchildren, Christopher Jobe and Rowan Reynolds.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Genevieve (Malik) Schlegel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring in Ohio. All family and friends are welcome.
Memorial Contributions in memory of James "Jim" Valentine Schlegel may be made to a charity of your choosing.
