Janet Lea Guerra

Janet Lea Somerville Guerra, 56, of Cape Coral, Fl, formerly of Parkersburg WV; Went to be with God on May 7th, 2026 at Health Park Medical Center.

Janet was born on March 30, 1970 as the 5th child of Lee and Sue Gum Somerville in Parkersburg, WV. She was a class of 1988 graduate from Parkersburg South High School. She spent her summer breaks working at GE Plastics alongside her family and friends in 1987-88.

Later in 1992, after moving to Mrytle Beach, graduated from Coastal Carolina University and the University of South Carolina with her Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology alongside her Delta Phi Omega Sorority Sisters. While raising her two children, and trying to work was difficult due to her heart issues again went back to school, graduating from WVU-Parkersburg with her Associates of Science in Nursing in May 2000.

This degree allowed Janet to truly shine while fulfilling her lifetime dream of keeping others with heart issues like her dad. Janet spent years, 2000-2004 working as a cardiac critical care nurse, at Camden Clark, then moved on to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Cath lab in 2004-2006. Finally completing her nursing service to the Mid-Ohio Valley from 2006-2010 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Then her love of the ocean called her to move on to Naples in 2010. Where she continued her cardiac cath lab services where she was forced into medical retirement from Lee. Health in October, 2023, where she served the cardiac cath lab. EP Lab and Stress Lab Nursing was her truest passion and she was always the light to her colleagues who became more like family.

Janet lived her life as fully as she could. She loved roller coasters + theme parks, aquariums, motorcycles, rock concerts, her pool and quality time with friends, her husband, and kids and grandkids.

Preceding her in death to welcome her to heaven were her loving parents, her big brother Brian (Bub) Somerville, her brother in-law Blaine Minney; As well as her sweet pups, Toby, Missy Zoey, and grand pups Karlie, Theo, and Sadie Mae. And her special bonus daughter, Kori White.

She is survived by her Husband, Paul Guerra (Cape Coral) of over 20 years, one daughter Alexandria (Cape Coral), one son Austin (Tiffany) of Logan, Utah, her little sweeties (granddaughters) Sharlotte Rose and Margaret Taylor, both of Logan, Utah. Sisters Cathy Ahart (Steve) of Bellaire, Ohio, Lauren Bishop (Paul) of Brookeville, PA, Beth Minney Parkersburg, WV as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues.

The family would like to offer many thanks to Dr. E, Cody, and the entire Health Park ED Team, Lee County EMS Units 24 + 28, and Cape Coral PD for giving their absolute best efforts on her last night. Also, a huge thank you to Dr. Robert Cross and Dr. Erick Burton for the phenomenal care and friendship to Janet over the years!
