Jimmy Edgar Smith

Jimmy Edgar Smith, 81, a longtime resident of Fort Myers, passed away on February 15, 2026, in the care of Hope Hospice. He was born on August 21, 1944, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Jimmy graduated from Fort Myers Senior High School in 1962 and spent his entire career in the building industry, retiring from Compass Construction.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Lorraine Smith; his son, Jimmy Edgar Smith Jr. (Kim) of Fort Myers; his brother, Pete Smith of St. James City; two sisters, Patsy Martin (Marty) of Fort Myers and Trudy Harby of Fort Myers Beach; two grandsons; one granddaughter; four great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Clara Smith of Fort Myers; his sister, Darlene Smith of Fort Myers; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Gene Hart of Statesboro, Georgia; and his brother-in-law, Flip Harby of Fort Myers Beach.

A private family service will be held at Fort Myers Cemetery.
