John Edward Slayton, 84, a resident of Estero, Fl, passed away Friday September 25, 2026, in Fort Myers, Fl. He was born on June 23, 1942, in Washington, D.C. to parents Walter Slayton and Bernice Williams, now deceased.
John dedicated many years of his career as a Meat Manager for Safeway, where he was known for his hard work and commitment to serving his community. Outside of work, he found great joy in baking and cooking for family and friends. John also enjoyed spending quiet moments relaxing and watching television. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, strong work ethic, and the simple pleasures he cherished throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Lee Slayton, who passed away on August 16, 2021.
He is survived by his children Danny Slayton, Holly Slayton; His brother Rick Slayton; As well as his granddaughter Maya Chance.
In the spring, John and Lee will be taken back to Lee’s hometown and be buried at the St. Cecilia cemetery in Rochester, Pennsylvania.
