John Emil Weiman, 69, of Indialantic, Florida passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Cape Coral, of complications related to diabetes.
He was born July 6, 1956, in Chicago, IL. As a child he enjoyed playing goalie for the Park Ridge, IL ice hockey team. Generally speaking, he liked anything to do with sports, but his life-long favorite sport was fishing. He started fishing early-at his grandfather's cabin on Rose Lake in Minnesota, and fished wherever he was, any chance he could get. The family moved to Cape Coral when he was 12. Shortly after that, he learned that he was diabetic (Type 1). Despite that, he played football, basketball and baseball at Cypress Lake High School in Ft. Myers, FL. Football was his favorite. While he was still in high school, his dad bought him a boat. He spent many days water-skiing and fishing with friends on that boat. For the rest of his life, his favorite place to be was out on the water in one of his boats. After high school, he attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, then transferred to the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he graduated as an engineer.
After graduation, he went to work for Harris Corp. in Melbourne, FL as an optics (laser) engineer in government systems. While working there, he bought a house only a block away from the beach, with three garages to hold at least two of his boats. And that's where his official residence has been ever since. During the time he was at Harris, he also learned to love playing golf and enjoyed snow skiing in the Rockies with friends. Later he decided that his job was too high stress. He first obtained a massage therapy license, and subsequently graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago. While in Chicago, he was able to stay with a long-time friend of his father, and enjoyed being able to visit with cousins living in the Chicago area. Since returning to Florida, he has split his time between his home in Indialantic, and his mother's house in Cape Coral. No matter where he lived or what he was doing, however, he always liked to make people laugh (even at funerals).
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Weiman; his sister, Evelyn Barratt (husband Richard); his niece, Jenifer Lee (husband Gary), grand-niece McKenzie and grand-nephew Siguard.
John was preceded in death by his father, Emil Weiman, and his nephew, Michael Barratt.
