Laverne S Brown

LaVerne Shirley Elizabeth Brown, born LaVerne Schwab, was a phenomenal woman whose life was defined by love, strength, courage, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and the people around her.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, LaVerne traveled across the states with Edward Parks, creating cherished memories and experiencing life on the carnival. She later settled in Bordentown, New Jersey, where she met her best friend, Barbara Engler-a friendship that remained strong and treasured throughout the years.

In 1998, LaVerne moved to Lee County, Florida, with her children. In 2006, she became a part of the Cape Junior Football Association, where she remained deeply involved until the day she passed. She dedicated her time, energy, and heart not only to her own children, but also to the countless children and families she served at the field. For LaVerne, it was never simply about football-it was about community, family, and being there for others.

LaVerne raised eight children of her own and three of her many grandchildren. She was a beautiful soul who gave everything she had to the people she loved. She could always be found helping someone in need, offering encouragement, sharing her strength, or simply being there when someone needed her.

But alongside her incredible strength was a young spirit that never faded.

LaVerne loved to dance. No matter her age or what life had put her through, music could bring out the fun, carefree woman she always carried inside. Dancing was one of the ways she celebrated life, and it was impossible to keep her young spirit from shining when the music started. She knew how to have fun, laugh, enjoy the moment, and remind everyone around her that life was meant to be lived. Her love for dancing was a beautiful reflection of the joy, energy, and youthful spirit that remained with her throughout her life.

She was our Warrior Queen.

LaVerne defeated cancer twice and broke her back twice, yet through every hardship, she continued to work, care for her family, and fight forward. Nothing could take away her determination or her will to keep going. She faced every challenge with courage and strength and continued fighting until the very end.

LaVerne leaves to cherish her memory her eight children:

Jason and wife Jennefer Creese;

Eric Creese;

Adam Watkins;

Trina Edmondson;

Eddie and wife Kimberly Parks;

Daniel Sr. and wife Misty Watkins;

Amanda and husband Tye Camacho; and

Nicole Currie.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren:

Bridget, Daniel Jr., Taylor, Shanece, Dontae, Mikel, Joziah, Patryell, Bobbie, Alayzha, Chawntae'ah, Raichawn, Joh'Linda, Katie, Jerry, Thomas, Phoenix, Coley, Brandon, Rocky, Vincent, Destiny, Jason Jr., Jeffery, Robbie, Jacob Jr., Alivia, Kane, Cole, Dylan, Cecily, and Aiden;

and her great-grandchildren:

Mahea, Mikel, Carson, Kingston, Kyrie, David, Armanii, Darsea, Brody, and Penelope.

She now joins her great-granddaughter, Sariyah, at the gates of Heaven.

LaVerne will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family, dear friends, the Cape Junior Football Association family, and the countless people whose lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, strength, humor, and unconditional love.

Her beautiful spirit, contagious laughter, wisdom, and ability to love without limits will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She taught those around her that even through the hardest moments, there was always a reason to keep fighting, a reason to laugh, and a reason to dance.

Though she is no longer with us in physical form, her legacy will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and every person she helped, encouraged, loved, and inspired along the way.

Her life was a testament to what it means to be strong while never losing your joy. She gave love freely, stood beside those who needed her, fought through what would have broken many, and still found a way to laugh, love, and dance.

Rest peacefully, Warrior Queen.

Keep dancing among the angels.

You fought bravely.

You loved deeply.

You gave endlessly.

And you never let life take away your beautiful, young spirit.

You will be forever loved, forever remembered, and deeply missed.
