Myrna Naber, age 88, of Holland, Michigan passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in Cape Coral, Florida.
Myrna Bremer called Holland home her entire life, born on June 18, 1937, attending Holland Christian Schools and married to Roger Naber, also a lifetime resident, having met as young adults at Central Avenue Church. She is the daughter of Andrew & Johanna Bremer (Van Wieren); sister to Hazel Smith (Gary), Harriet Brieve (Frank), and Andrew Bremer Jr. (Kathy).
She is survived by her husband Roger of 69 years; their four children, all from Holland, Kathy Essenburg (Tom); Connie Bonzelaar (Doug); Darla Klaasse; and Debra Hulst (Doug). Between all four daughters the current grandchildren count is 14 Grands, 38 Great Grands and 3 Great Great Grands. Myrna also has many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Myrna's primary role was raising their 4 daughters and supporting Roger who was a long time National Guardsmen, and then enjoying a plethora of sons-in-law, grandkids, extended family, as well as friends that would follow. Rising to the occasion Myrna was "family famous" as a consummate baker, with Roger 2nd in charge of inventory, setup, cleanup, maintaining strict adherence to the long held secret recipes and as a team deciding how many batches were required to keep everybody happy. Ultimately, her granddaughter Heidi Miedema (Gras) took it upon herself to publish and provide every family member a copy of "Grandma's Recipes" for which the entire family will be eternally grateful. Myrna also worked for many years as a CNA at Resthaven. Myrna and Roger are longtime members of Christ Memorial Church.
When Myrna had time, she enjoyed knitting, reading, coloring, travelling and playing cards with friends. She loved going out to lunch - finding new places, food, people watching and getting the low down on everything and everyone. She also enjoyed watching Spartan basketball and football, Tigers baseball and the Game Show Network.
As much as she enjoyed doing all those things above, it was a particularly stellar day if there was family involved, especially grandkids, who will always remember the fun they had alongside her and Grandpa, especially the baking sessions. And the fact that they knew exactly what they would be taking home.
Myrna will be remembered personally for always letting you know where you stood, pulling no punches, all while laughing, joking and providing status updates of family & friends. All her grandkids will have a lifetime of memories and stories they can share with their kids and grandkids - and top notch baked goods!
The family is planning a Celebration of Life ("I want a party!") this spring when everyone is back in Holland.
If you wish to honor Myrna, she would be very pleased if you would consider Holland Christian Schools.
