Robert Eugene Haulman, 75, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Cape Coral. He was born June 17, 1950, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Robert was of the Christian faith. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and was a proud Marine, intending to serve for his entire lifetime. He was disappointed when he developed a health issue and was retired from the service much too soon.
As it turned out, that was only the beginning of his health problems. He battled them all and bounced back with his incredible will to live and a smile on his face. His sense of humor helped him through his many challenges.
He loved his family and would do whatever was necessary to provide for them. He was a hard worker and was often known as "Two Job Bob" and sometimes "Three Job Bob." Occasionally, he even got to ride his motorcycle between jobs.
He loved his work as a machinist and always said the hardest part was driving in. He worked at several shops before landing at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he made parts for whatever the Army needed at the time. He worked there for many years before transferring to the Washington Aqueduct in Washington, D.C., for what he thought would be his final working years. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 33 years of service. Retirement proved to be boring, so, like a bad penny, he turned up back at Letterkenny for a few more years.
He loved to camp and once took a month-long trip out west, where his family visited Mount Rushmore and the Badlands, visited family in Idaho, saw the giant redwoods in California, the Great Salt Lake, and the Grand Canyon. There were many additional weekend camping trips as well. The mountains of Pennsylvania were his favorite place to camp.
He loved a Diet Pepsi or two and always seemed to have one nearby. In his later years, he often visited antique shops and flea markets, looking to add to his Pepsi collectibles collection.
He will be missed terribly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Rizzo; three children, Amanda Black (Todd) of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Heather McNaughton (Phil) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Robert Haulman (Tiffany) of Middletown, Pennsylvania; three stepchildren, Daniel Rizzo (Amy) of Forsyth, Illinois, Kristina Rizzo of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Michael Rizzo (Maggie) of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Debra Armstrong (Larry) of Shady Grove, Pennsylvania; as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Haulman; brothers, Harold and George; sister, Barbara; infant daughter, Crystal; and grandson, Duncan.
A Celebration of Life in Pennsylvania will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM, with the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, at 1:00 PM.
Memorial contributions in memory of Robert Eugene Haulman are suggested to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which supports military veterans.
