Ruth Anne “Ruthie” Peters, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Ruth was born on November 19, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Raymond Foss Baker and Hazel Elizabeth (Maloney) Baker, who were originally from Duluth, Minnesota. Known affectionately as Ruthie to her family, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by service, intellect, and deep love for family.
On October 8, 1955, Ruth married Louis Henry Peters, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love, commitment and shared values. Together, they raised four children.
Ruth pursued her education at court reporting school in Chicago, reflecting her lifelong appreciation for precision, language, and learning. She went on to build a distinguished career as an Executive Secretary at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pennsylvania, where she was respected for her professionalism, attention to detail, and unwavering standards—especially when it came to grammar.
A lifelong lover of books, Ruth found companionship, comfort, and curiosity in reading. Her tastes evolved over the years, reflecting both imagination and intellect—from early adventures and epic tales, to gentle, heart-warming stories, and later a deep interest in American history. Books were a source of pleasure and reflection throughout her life.
Musically gifted, Ruth played the piano and participated in the handbell choir at her church, where music was both a spiritual and personal expression. While living in West Chester, she generously gave her time working with adult learners from abroad, helping them learn English and find confidence in a new country.
Ruth had a profound love for dogs, whom she considered cherished members of the family. They were companions in her daily routines, quiet moments, and family life, and she cared for them with the same tenderness and devotion she showed to everyone she loved.
Ruth is survived by her son Timothy “Tim” Peters (Melissa) of DeLand, Florida; daughter Elisabeth “Betsy” Pritchard (Harold) of North Fort Myers, Florida, daughter Adria Brown of Alexandria, Virginia; and son Elliott Peters of San Francisco, California. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great pride and joy.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Ruth Anne Peters is scheduled for March 29, 2026. Additional details will be shared at a later date.
Ruth’s legacy lives on through her family, her service to others, her love of music and language, and the many lives she touched with grace, kindness, and quiet strength.
