Shatreetia Cordell

March 19, 1980 — November 21, 2025

North Fort Myers

In loving memory of Shatree'tia “Tree” Cordell, 45, of North Fort Myers, Florida. Our loving Tree passed away peacefully in her sleep after a battle with cancer November 21st, 2025. A service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, November 29th at the New Image Tabernacle, 81 Pondella Road, North Fort Myers, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the fellowship room.

Tree was born Shatree'tia Quanetta Jones on March 19th, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Cleveland Heights High School and graduated in 1998. She excelled on the track team in high school and earned a scholarship to attend Kent State University. While there, her Kent team won a MAC championship. She graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and started her teaching career.

Tree spent the last 20 years living in Lee County, Florida, and has been in early education with the Lee County School District. She spent many years teaching Pre-K in the Head Start program, and most recently taught kindergarten at the North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts, where both of her children attended. For those who would like to make a charitable donation, link has been set up to give to the Academy's Foundation for the Arts in her name: https://www.nfmaaartsfoundation.org/treecordell

Tree is survived by her husband Spencer Cordell and her children Tristan and Tatiana. She's also survived by her mother, Tedia Noney and Tedia's husband Alex. She is survived by siblings Walter Jones, Myles and Brianna Bonner, Chelsea Bonner and Kristen Miller. She was preceded in her death by her beloved brother Charlie Jones. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that she loved very much.

Our angel Tree was the most kind, caring, compassionate and loving person we know. She was a person of deep faith, and her love of Christ gave her strength as she fought bravely against cancer. She loved her church family at the New Image Tabernacle and participated in her own children's ministry with the church. She will be remembered and leave a legacy with the hundreds of Lee County children that she taught over the years. Her greatest legacy are her two wonderful children, Tristan and Tatiana, who inherited their mother’s kindness, compassion and intelligence. She will be loved, missed, and remembered through her acts of love, Faith and the loving family who will miss her very much.
