Stephen Raye Pitts, 67, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Cape Coral, Florida.

Born on May 27, 1958, in Brewton, Alabama, Stephen carried his southern roots proudly throughout his life. He was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School, Class of 1976, and went on to dedicate more than 40 years to the construction industry. Stephen became a respected pioneer in post-tension bridge construction and was known not only for his skill and leadership but also for the many people he mentored and taught throughout his career. As a foreman and teacher to many, he took pride in sharing his knowledge and helping others succeed.

If you knew Stephen, you knew someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and could make anyone laugh. He had a quick wit, a strong personality, and a generous heart. No matter the situation, he was always willing to help someone in need.

Outside of work, Stephen loved sports, especially college football, and was a devoted Florida Gators fan. He found his greatest peace outdoors - fishing, diving, and spending time in the Florida Keys were among his favorite pastimes. In retirement, he enjoyed the slower pace of life in Tennessee and treasured his time in the country.

Stephen is survived by his ex-wife and lifelong friend of 47 years, Stephanie Campbell; his four children, Erika Ennis, Adam Pitts, Amelia Pitts, and Afton Pitts; his fourteen grandchildren; and his siblings, Edsel Pitts Jr., Frank Pitts, and Sheila Henry.

Stephen's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his humor, wisdom, and hard work. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly carried in the hearts of his family and friends.
