Stuart Alfred Kidder

Retired Colonel Stuart Alfred Kidder, 62, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was born February 24, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama.

A man of the Presbyterian faith, Stuart proudly served in the United States Army for more than three decades, ultimately attaining the distinguished rank of Colonel. Throughout his remarkable military career, he exemplified exceptional leadership, unwavering courage, and selfless service. His assignments took him around the world, including deployments and tours in Bosnia, Korea, Germany, Iraq, and numerous other locations. Wherever duty called, Stuart earned the admiration, confidence, and respect of those who worked beside him.

Honors include selection for the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award (1992); Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korea Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star; Overseas Service Ribbon (5th award); Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal; NATO Medal; Parachutist Badge; Air Assault Badge; Army Achievement Medal (2nd award); Army Commendation Medal (3rd award); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (9th Award); Bronze Star; and Legion of Merit.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Stuart cherished time spent in the outdoors with his loyal Brittany Spaniel, Scout, who remained his constant companion and held a special place in his heart. Stuart had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing and found great joy in sharing those experiences with family, friends, and his beloved dog.

Those who knew Stuart will remember his strength of character, steadfast work ethic, quick wit, and generous spirit. Stuart leaves behind his son, Kyle Alfred Kidder (Emma); his daughter, Kallie Elizabeth Kidder; his cherished granddaughter, Fiona Kidder; and his sister, Carol Celeste Doemel. Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Alfred Kidder and Sara McNutt Stephens.

A service with full military honors will be held on September 4th, 2026 at 10am EST.
