Thomas Jack Fillbright

Thomas "Tom" Jack Fillbright, 67, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Cape Coral. He was born December 16, 1958, in Springfield, Illinois.

Tom was a man of Christian faith who lived his life with a love for family, friendship, the outdoors, and helping others. He had a huge heart, an adventurous spirit, and a way of finding happiness in life's simple things.

A talented carpenter and craftsman, Tom spent nearly his entire working life in the trades. He took great pride in working with his hands and could build, repair, or figure out just about anything. For many years, he worked for J.J. Schwartz Co. in Decatur, Illinois. After moving to Lebanon, Indiana, Tom worked for several years at Masterbuilt Construction, where he formed friendships that he greatly treasured.

While living in Indiana, Broadview Acres Campground in Colfax became a second home for Tom and Ché for many years. Tom loved the people, the atmosphere, the friendships, and especially being able to cast a fishing line whenever he wanted. They made many wonderful memories, friendships, and laughs there.

Tom loved fishing and hunting, going to the beach and shelling, sitting outside, spending time with friends and family, or simply getting in the car for a drive. He and Ché shared so many adventures, so much laughter, and so many wonderful times together. Those everyday moments and adventures became some of their most treasured memories.

Tom was also a dedicated member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Moose Lodge. He valued the friendships and sense of community he found through these organizations throughout his life.

After moving to Florida, Tom became a member of Ocean Church in Cape Coral and was baptized in the Caloosahatchee River. His faith and relationship with God continued to grow, along with the special bond he shared with his brothers in faith. Tom had a true servant's heart. He loved helping feed people experiencing homelessness, praying with them, and giving what he could, whenever he could.

When Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida, Tom put his years of experience and God-given talents to work helping others repair and rebuild their homes. Serving others came naturally to him, and he was always willing to lend his hands, his skills, or his time when someone needed help.

Tom deeply loved his family. He loved his stepdaughters, Alyssa and Kiersten, and his granddaughter, Emory, who held a very special place in his heart. And anyone who knew Tom knew how much he loved his dogs. His beloved Pauly, who passed before him, and Jimmy were his best buddies and faithful companions.

Tom will be remembered as a talented craftsman, loyal friend, loving father and grandfather, devoted husband, and a man with a generous heart who loved to serve others. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, friendships, adventures, and memories that will continue to be shared by all who loved him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ché; two daughters, Alyssa Baumgardt (Hasan Parker) and Kiersten McCoy (Paul Ferraro); two sisters, Gloria Hinds (Steve) and Annette Carper; two brothers, Joey Miller (Amy) and Jay Ingledue; as well as his granddaughter, Emory Ferraro.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd "Jack" Fillbright and Betty (Bud) Ingledue.
