It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Henry Locke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Tom passed away peacefully on October 14, 2026 at the age of 82. Born on May 31, 1944 in Monroe, Wisconsin, he filled the lives of all around him with laughter and unforgettable memories.
Thomas, affectionately known as "Tom", was a man whose big personality and captivating wit made him a memorable figure to all fortunate enough to have known him. A graduate of Kokomo High School and Murray State University, Tom dedicated a 35 year career to Continental Concrete Pipe and Lowell Pipe Corporation before retiring in 2010. His hard work and dedication to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Tom's love for life extended beyond his career as he was a passionate sports enthusiast who was always cheering on his Wisconsin Badgers and Chicago Bears. A former semi-pro football player for the Detroit Cowboys, Tom's love of the game was an integral part of his personality, shaped by 13 years on the field. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed 30+ years of membership at the Kankakee Elks Country Club and his beloved Majestic Golf Club during his retirement. Tom enjoyed the scenic fairway views from his lanai where he was always ready to harass passing golfers with his witty banter. Those fortunate enough to know him cherished his remarkable ability to bring humor into any situation, often brightening the dullest of gatherings with a well-timed joke.
In 1982, Tom married the love of his life, Janet. Together they built a beautiful family and shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Tom is survived by his beloved wife Jan and his devoted children: Stewart Locke, Betsy Munsell (Eric), Randy Welch (Tara), and Megan Etheredge (Rollin). He also leaves behind two cherished sisters, Marsha Stanek (Ken) and Kathy Voyles (Ron). Tom was a proud grandfather of nine and cherished his moments spent with them.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Esther (Johnson) Locke. He is also preceded in death by his beloved son, John Gardner Locke.
His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Select Specialty Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at his home on October 28th at 5:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to raise a toast and share stories of joy and laughter. A service will also be held in Wisconsin at a later date.
