Lewis Frederick Empie Jr.

Lewis Frederick Empie Jr., 86, a resident of Cape Coral, FL passed away Sunday March 22, 2026. He was born on July 4, 1939 in Seward, NY to parents Lewis Frederick Empie Sr. and Vivian Marie Fox. He is survived by his wife, Marge, and three children, Kris, Kelly, and Katie; son-in-law Mike and two grandsons, Logan and Lucas; son-in-law Dave; siblings, Lois, Nancy, Phyllis, Bonnie (predeceased), David, and Vicki.

Lew, formerly of Amherst, NH, retired in Florida in 2013. He was a Christian and family man. He met his wife, Marge, in 1962, in Washington DC while in the Marine Corps. After completing his service, Lew and Marge moved to NH where he completed his engineering education. He was employed at Ingersoll-Rand as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer from 1967 to 1998. He was known for his mentoring of young students in the US First Robotics program and held 2 patents in the US Patent and Trademark Office.

While he loved his work, his first love was his family. He was blessed with a huge loving family. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, reading, woodworking, watching westerns, and being surrounded by his family. Lew will be deeply missed, not just for the roles he played, but for the warmth, kindness, and quiet impact he had on everyone around him. His presence brought comfort, his words carried meaning, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00pm at the Last Rest Cemetery located at 13 Baboosic Lake Road in Merrimack, NH. Family and friends are invited to send condolences via the on-line guest book which can be found at www.MullinsCurtis.com.
